Tamale Festival

9th Annual Tamale Festival

Come join us May 14th from 10am-4pm in Old Orchard Park for a day of family fun as we celebrate the Hispanic culture in an East Texas Tex-Mex way.

There is a lot for the whole family to enjoy from bouncy houses, a kids area, a Mariachi Band, food vendors with authentic Mexican food along with the Texas traditional festival foods, craft vendors and a lot more.

This year our petting zoo will not be your average barnyard petting zoo, instead we will have Noah’s Way Petting Zoo bring in their exotic animals; deer, antelope, kangaroos, etc.…

Kids Celebration – Family Game Show will be a new addition to this year’s festival. An interactive family game show with fun games, awesome music and audience participation this is sure to be a crowd favorite.

Watch our local 4th, 5th and 6th grader Folkloric Dancers showcase their skills with their dance moves that reflect the traditional life of the Hispanic culture.

The Tamale Festival Youth Boxing Tournament will be back again this year. Last year this was a crowd pleaser that pulled everyone in to watch throughout the day. Come watch this talented group of young men as they compete to be the best.

New Contests this year will include a “Bean Hut” bring your Charro Beans and let the people judge and vote to see who has the best pot of beans. Also, we will be having a “Salsa” Contest. If you think you make the best salsa, then bring it to this year’s Tamale Festival and let the judges see if yours is the salsa to beat!  And of course we will have the Tamale Cooking Contest open to all our vendors who have a booth space and our Tamale Eating Contest to see who can eat the most Tamales!

If you are interested in volunteering or would like to participate as a vendor, contact the Civic Center at 936-829-4888 for more information or follow us on Facebook – Diboll Tamale Festival

This year we are excited to have our 1st Annual Backyard BBQ Cook-Off. If you think you have the best BBQ Brisket or Chicken, make sure to get your team together and enter! All proceeds from this event will benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Diboll. Please click here for BBQ entry form
